Family and Friends,

Happy Holocaust Remembrance Day! I hope you and yours remember what it means to be a international-law abiding citizens and non-war criminals!

This week has been full for us here in Fier. Elder Eddings and I have a new house that is beautiful with enough closet space for my ties. It also has two bathrooms with separate water heaters.

On Tuesday I had a meeting with President Weidmann in Durrës and it got out too late to catch a bus back to Fier and so I had to stay with Elder Richards my former companion. We had a great chat and enjoyed a great night together.

On Saturday we were asked to join other missionaries from Lushnjë and go to Berat to assist in the opening of the city. We held a presentation of our beliefs at the Hotel Palma in Berat. As part of that Elder Eddings and I went tracting though the old white cobble-stoned section of the city with homes that have stood for centuries. It was gorgeous!

For the presentation I was asked to translate the proceedings into President Weidmann's ear and then I translated for the Humanitarian couple's presentation. It was a great night and I am happy that we could help out.

On Monday Elder Eddings and I visited the most depressing zoo in the world. The Fier Zoo was not what we might call the Garden of Eden. There were about 6 lions who were probably eating what 3 lions should eat. But it was nice to do something outside of Fier.

Well I love you all and I am excited to report an excellent week next Monday,

Family and Friends,

Hello from rainy Fier! I hope your Martin Luther King Jr. Day has been great!

This week I have been slightly under the weather but that provided a great opportunity to take care of some other important missionary work. My companion Elder Eddings is what we may humbly call a computer wizard. The assistants to the president asked him a while back to create an Albanian version of the “Because of Him” video put out by the Church. While I was sick he had an opportunity to rip apart the English version and put in the Albanian translation that I made.

The video looks great and provides Albanian speakers a great opportunity to see Christ in a new light. I will try to provide a link to it but if that does not work and anybody would like a copy of this Oscar-winning rendition, shoot me an email.

Fier, unlike Tirana, does not have as many restaurants or general food establishments and has a handful of “missionary restaurants.” I am not a huge fan of the Fier missionary restaurants and so Elder Eddings and I have tried to cook more inside of the house.  We have successfully tried a couple variations of pasta, rice, and fried vegetables. In Albanian, the produce is generally very good. We usually have a great selection of peppers, onions, tomatoes, and produce in general.

Now, the crux of the matter is that the hands that are preparing our meals (Elder Acheson’s) are relatively unschooled. I have picked up a couple of things from members here and feel that I can cook fairly well, though fairly simple. Now if there are any wiser and more experienced hands that care to share some simple recipes with this simple chef, it would be greatly appreciated.

I love you all and I do pray for you. Be mindful for the sick in spirit and in mind. There are those who stand in need for miracles here and at home. Please look for ways to serve and pray for those around you. I can promise that if we turn out in our outlook, God will help you.

I love you,

Elder Açësoni i Madhërishëm

Family and Friends,

Hello from Fier!

Elder Eddings and I have had a good, long week. We have begun our English course in Fier and are spending a lot of time finding. We have had some great opportunities finding this past week.

On Thursday we had a Vlorë Zone Training in Vlorë. It was great especially to get to talk to Elder Lee who has been asked to spend the last transfer of his mission opening up the city of Berat to the Church of Jesus Christ. I was glad to spend the time with him at lunch and in driving back to Fier in getting caught up with him.

Elder Eddings and I spent P-Day with our Sister Training Leaders Sister Pitcher and Sister White at the ancient Roman city Apollonia. I, being the history buff, was rather excited in visiting the ruined city. The Sisters, being in leadership, have a car and we sat in the back seat. When we asked directions to the site, the Albanian man I asked for directions gave us a rather puzzled look expressing his surprise to see two American young women chauffeuring two males who spoke Albanian. It was a fun culture-clash moment.

I love you all and hope that you are well!

Family and Friends,

Happy New Years!

I am in a new city called Fier. It is a smaller city than Tirana, the Capital where I was just recently. My new companion is Elder Eddings. He has just finished his training and I am very excited to be with him here.

We just had a huge fireworks show and Elder Eddings and I put a couch out on our balcony and tried not to freeze despite 5 blankets. It was quite the show and rather fun. Some one shot a roman candle on to our balcony and almost got it into our bedroom.

Well we will have a regular P-Day on Monday and then I can include more information.

I love you all and I wish you a Happy 2015
